TLA News: Thailand Lacrosse Association (TLA) is proud to announce that starting 2013 season Danielle Spencer (Northwestern) will be joining Thailand Lacrosse as TLA Development Officer for the women’s program. The Brighton, N.Y. Native helped Northwestern University secured three consecutive NCAA titles from 2007 – 2009 and finished as runner up in 2010 Championship.
Danielle earned the two-time All-American after she netted 59 goals and 77 points in her senior year, and commanding 64 goals and 84 points as a junior. Danielle’s 64 goals in a season ranked seventh-best in Northwestern history. She also received many more awards, and accolades during her 4 years at Northwestern, such as 110 draw controls which is the third most in the history of NCAA.
After graduation, Danielle worked as an assistant coach for Stanford women’s lacrosse team. Before returning to alma mater after she was offered the position of an assistant coach to the Northwestern lacrosse program.
“I am honored and humbled to have been welcomed into the Thailand Lacrosse Family and selected as a Development Officer for Women’s Lacrosse.” said Spencer “Thailand is an incredible country, with tremendous athletic talent, and great potential to be successful in the sport of women’s lacrosse. I am excited to share my skills and knowledge with the players, and to support the growth of the sport throughout the country. Thailand Lacrosse has made the commitment to compete at the highest level, and this is a great step forward for the entire sport in spreading lacrosse worldwide.”
Danielle already in discussion with TLA President Payu Nerngchamnong about their preparation ahead of 2013 for the women’s program, to get ready for the 2013 FIL Women’s World Cup in Canada (which it is likely that Danielle will also be playing for the U.S. National team). Danielle will join Sean Lindsay (Syracuse) and Chazz Woodson (Brown) who had been TLA’s Development Officers since 2010. When asked about Spencer’s appointment, Payu responded:

Danielle is an incredible athletes, a driven individual, with tremendous skills, and lacrosse experience on, and off the field. Not only that she is a great lacrosse player, Danielle also has a gifted teaching ability. As well as the vision to use her gifts to grow the game in a different part of the world. Which is are strong qualities we looked for in our Development Officers, and I am more than certain she’ll do a fine job developing the women’s lacrosse here in Thailand. I look forward to working closely with her, and our women’s captain: Kwan Hansongkitpong to get TLA women’s program going at full speed.”
